Tell Us About Your Business:
SewVac Ltd. was born September 15, 1979 at 1762 Clark Ave., in Long Beach, California and was really limited at that time to the sale and repair of Vacuums and Sewing Machines. We started with Bernina and Elna, at that time the only Swiss Machines being manufactured. We've evolved over the years to carrying Bernina and Janome; a product mix that works perfectly for our customer base. We repair all brands of sewing machines and vacuums and have expanded our store over the years to add at this point, about 6000 bolts of fabric including all 304 colors of Kona Cotton and specialize in the largest batik collection in Southern California. We have extensive quilt and sewing classes including 35 members of our Hoop Sister's Club where Leni Herman puts our "sisters" thru their paces, both cutting and in-the-hoop construction of their Hoop Sister's Quilts. We're open seven days a week with a friendly and knowledgable staff of avid sewers and we'll match our talented group of machine and class instructors with anyone else in the industry.
What do you love about what you do?
We love those who love to sew. Whether it's a child's first project to a student making his or her first quilt, a completed garment modeled by it's maker, or a smile on the face of a customer who finally gets it and has mastered her machine! Sewing is so completely satisfying to both the maker and the "receiver" that you can't help but love being part of the process. The environment at SewVac Ltd. involves having fun on a regular basis with the "buzz" created by our constant classes and the "ooohs and aaahs created by show and tell. It doesn't hurt to occasionally sell a quality machine to someone who can really appreciate it as well. There's a great deal of pride in saying that we carry the best equipment in the industry for taking the user to their finished goal; making that perfect garment, bag, or quilt. It's not bad to see a smile on the face of a customer after repairing her pride and joy; that old featherweight or that old Kenmore that she's loved for years and never thought it would sew again. I love that kind of challenge!
